Reform Advisory Studio takes on the work others talk about

We are a small public sector transformation practice. Reform Advisory Studio was set up by consultants who had spent years inside large programmes and grew tired of strategy documents that never reached the front line. We work with councils, health bodies and arm's length organisations on the practical business of changing how a service runs. That means fewer slide decks and more time spent with the people who deliver the service every day.

Our approach starts with listening, not a template. We spend the first weeks shadowing teams, reading case notes, sitting in on handovers and tracing where a resident's journey actually breaks down. Only then do we propose changes. It is slower at the start and considerably faster overall, because the recommendations are grounded in what the service can genuinely absorb rather than what looks tidy in a board paper.

We work alongside permanent staff rather than around them. Where a team needs capability built, we build it through joint delivery: drafting the business case together, running the workshops together, and handing over the method as we go. The aim is always that our involvement ends and the organisation's own people carry the work forward without us. That is the measure we hold ourselves to.

Most of our engagements involve difficult trade-offs: shrinking budgets, statutory duties that cannot lapse, and staff who have already lived through several restructures. We are candid about those constraints rather than pretending they can be designed away. We also say plainly when a proposed change will not work, which occasionally costs us the work and has never yet cost us a client's trust.

Reformation Management Ltd operates Reform Advisory Studio. Our consultants have led transformation inside local government, NHS trusts and central departments, and we keep the practice deliberately small so that senior people stay on the work from first conversation to final handover. We take on a limited number of engagements each year for that reason.
